There’s something about military attire that is just so classic and chic which is why these (inspired) pieces will always be top closet staples for me. The style trend has been around for decades and I’d be willing to bet (though I’m not a betting person), it’s not going away. If you’ve read the fashion magazines or had any exposure to #NYFW, you will see that “uniform dressing” is big for fall/winter 2016/2017.
Maybe it’s that feeling of clean cut tailoring, maybe it’s the durable fabrics or ….maybe it’s just having those bold details and colors that make me feel strong and sophisticated at the same time. I’m not sure, I just know I love this style. But it IS still technically summer and still very hot in Atlanta, so I decided not to go with the typical layering you see with military attire. Instead, I mixed strength and boldness with a hint of softness by adding a sheer top with delicate ruffles for a more feminine flare. Trust me, you will see enough of the military jackets later this season.
Today’s pick: olive/khaki military pants with red stripes paired with shirred ruffle blouse. Shirt: Ann Taylor; Pants: Zara; Shoes: Aquazzura (similar here and here); Bag: Chanel (similar here); Sunglasses: Isaac Mizrahi; Accessories: Banana Republic
