You’ve heard the saying, “She’d look great in a paper bag!” right? Well, that saying couldn’t be more true when it comes to the paper bag skirt, pant or shorts. I am in love with this style as it looks great on ANYbody! I mean ANYbody!!! That’s because the elevated, cinched waist is overly highlighted (appearing inches smaller) and gives off an illusion of length to the legs. Smaller waist, longer legs…need I say more? Okay…the silhouette also comes in an array of styles and fabrics and can be super dressy or super casual, depending on how it is accessorized. My look today falls somewhere in between. I was going for a cool casual look. More so cool. For best results, though, when wearing the paper bag look, I recommend a fitted (at the waist particularly) tucked in shirt to ensure the waistline is front and center. Your waist will look smaller as the silhouette automatically gives off an hourglass form, without even putting it on. Feel free to do what you want with sleeves (i.e. strapless, bell sleeves, cold shoulder, ruffles, etc.) it won’t matter because all eyes will be focused on how lovely it is all “tied” together.
Today’s pick: khaki paper bag skirt with black and white striped off-the-shoulder fitted top and a clear, black-tipped heel with red statement earrings for a little pop!!
Skirt (Asos); shirt (American Eagle under $10); earrings (Shopbop, great option here ); shoes (Christian Louboutin, similar here); bag (Chanel)
