I love a structured look. And I love a classic look. I also love a good uniform look. So when I had a Meet and Greet at #JCrew Howell Mill recently, I put together and shared some of my favorite fall and winter looks, ranging from super casual to super dressy. This look falls somewhere in between. I refer to it as “super cool.” I had a lot of favorite looks, I always do at #JCrew. This was my absolute favorite for so many reasons, but mainly due to the details. Notice the black stars (not polka dots) scattered throughout the ruffled, black-trim, black-sleeve buttoned silk blouse? What about the black ribbon side piping on the khaki pants, not to mention the gorgeous silk-like bow tie that makes a belt completely unnecessary? There is sooo much to love here, right?
And because I don’t usually do a lot of color (working on that, maybe a New Year’s resolution), I love that even though there is a lot of detail, I am only wearing three colors: black, white and khaki. Now, remember I said I love a uniform look. What better way to bring this look to uniformity than adding a wool newsboy (AKA paper boy, baker boy, etc.) hat. Yesssss to hats, especially when your hairdresser is out of town. And yesssss to hats that don’t take over your entire look, but maintains its classic style and elevates your outfit.
But I wasn’t done. Since it’s mid-fall, I couldn’t be walking around in a silk shirt alone (despite the great details and the weather in the South). I needed to warm this look up a bit and added a classic black Moto jacket. Talk about details. So I have, by all means, a mixture of feminine (silks, ruffles, bows, etc.) along with masculine (newsboy hat, military piping, leather jacket, etc.) and needed shoes to do the same. Dior, anyone? Me! Me! Me! for the black patent leather and the beautifully tied white bow with black print. Add a black bag and I’m ready for a fun day or night look.
Today’s pick: ruffled, white with black stars silk shirt and khaki side-stripe pants with a newsboy, Moto and patent slingback ribbon pumps.
Thank you for stopping by!! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this look!!
